About us

Vegamot is a regional toll company owned by the counties of Trøndelag and Møre og Romsdal. Vegamot’s public mandate is to finance toll projects in the region, covering its financing obligations through the collection of tolls.

For some projects, Vegamot must borrow funds to finance the road, and tolls are collected only after the road is completed. In toll packages, financing occurs simultaneously with toll collection, so borrowing is not always necessary. Once a project is completed, toll collection ends. Funds collected for one project cannot be used to finance another. The toll company may not distribute dividends to its owners.

Vegamot is responsible for financing 11 toll projects. We have 13 employees. The customer service center consists of four staff members, who also handle eight toll projects in Northern Norway. Together, we issue approximately 900,000 invoices annually. Invoices are sent to customers without a valid AutoPASS agreement. Customers with a valid AutoPASS agreement receive their invoice from the tag issuer they have an agreement with.

At the turn of the year 2024–25, Vegamot has debt obligations of approximately NOK 9.5 billion, and over the next five years, debt is expected to reach about NOK 15 billion, in addition to financing obligations for toll packages. In 2024, Vegamot collected approximately NOK 2.1 billion in tolls. For those interested in more details about Vegamot’s finances, annual reports, guarantee overviews, loan overviews, and interest swap agreements are available below.

All toll projects in Vegamot’s portfolio have been approved by the Norwegian Parliament following local political review. Toll collection is regulated under Section 27 of the Road Act and the regulation on toll payments. Vegamot’s right to operate is established in the toll agreement with the Ministry of Transport. Toll rates are set by the Norwegian Public Roads Administration upon application from Vegamot. The framework for setting toll rates is outlined in the toll project guide prepared by the Norwegian Public Roads Administration. The company is also governed by Vegamot’s articles of association.
