Facts about tolls and Vegamot AS

For some projects, Vegamot must borrow money to finance the road, and the tolls are collected after the road is completed. In toll packages, financing occurs at the same time as collection, and borrowing is not always necessary. When the individual project is completed, collection ends. Money collected on one project cannot be used to finance another project. The toll company cannot pay dividends to its owners.

Vegamot has financing responsibility for 11 toll projects. We have 13 employees. The customer center consists of four employees. They are also assigned to service 8 toll projects in Northern Norway. In total, we send 900.000 invoices annually. We send invoices to customers who do not have a valid AutoPASS agreement. Customers with a valid AutoPASS agreement receive their invoice from the chip issuer they have an agreement with.

Vegamot has a debt obligation of approximately NOK 9,5 billion at the turn of the year 2024-25, and will have a debt of approximately NOK 15 billion over the next 5 years, in addition to financing obligations for toll packages. In 2024, Vegamot collected approximately NOK 2,1 billion in tolls. All toll projects in Vegamot's portfolio have been adopted by the Storting after local political consideration. Toll collection is regulated through Roads Act §27 og payment regulations of tolls. Vegamot has the right to operate activities stipulated in a toll agreement with the Ministry of Transport and Communications. Tariffs are set by the Norwegian Public Roads Administration upon application from Vegamot. The framework for setting tariffs is set out in toll project supervisor prepared by the Norwegian Public Roads Administration. The company is also regulated by Vegamots statutes.
