More about Fv17/Fv720
The current Fv. 17 is winding and does not meet today’s standards. Speed limits vary between 40, 50, 60, and 70 km/h. The road also passes through the village of Vellamelen in Steinkjer.
The new road will have a modern standard, improved curvature, and a speed limit of 80 km/h along the entire stretch. The current Fv. 720 is winding and has a low standard. The new Fv. 720 will provide a significantly shorter travel route for the Malm–Østvik–Steinkjer corridor.
The municipal sub-plan for Fv. 17 and Fv. 720 Kvarving–Sprova–Malm forms the basis for the preparation of the zoning plan. The sub-plan was adopted by the municipal councils of Steinkjer and Verran in February 2013. The zoning plan was adopted by Steinkjer and Verran municipalities in March 2015.

The project is a toll road project. It is expected to be completed during 2019.
Approved project budget: NOK 1.6 billion (2016 prices).
